William “Lewis” Copeland, Jr., P.E., is President of Southern Earth Sciences. He is a registered Professional Engineer in Alabama, Louisiana, Mississippi, and Florida. Mr. Copeland holds a B.S. degree in Civil Engineering from the University of South Alabama where he was president of Pi Kappa Phi Fraternity. Lewis, a native Mobilian, began his career with SES immediately after graduation in 1991. He has previously held positions as Vice President, Branch Manager, Staff Geotechnical Engineer, Drilling Department Manager, and Materials Testing Department manager. Lewis has been the Geotechnical Engineer of Record or Testing Engineer on hundreds of commercial, condominium, road, and bridge projects in the Mobile, AL, and surrounding areas. He sits on several boards including SES, Alabama General Contractors (AGC) Mobile Branch, Mobile County Road Builders Association (MCRBA), and the Mobile Area Chamber of Commerce.
