About Southern Earth Sciences, Inc.
Southern Earth Sciences, Inc. (SES) was founded in 1976 to provide the construction industry with complete geotechnical consulting and materials testing services. Southern Earth has grown to twelve offices spanning four states and provides services throughout the southeast.
Previously established to provide innovative solutions to unusual foundation problems, our growth has expanded into virtually every aspect of geotechnical engineering, construction materials testing, and environmental consulting.
Subsurface Investigations
Southern Earth Sciences, Inc. has extensive experience with Cone Penetration Testing (CPT), Vibracore, conventional SPT Testing, Macro Core and Rock Coring. To accompany these services, we have USACE Validated, AASHTO accredited* (Mobile and New Orleans), and DEQ Qualified laboratories. Our equipment is mounted on a variety of versatile platforms including trucks, tracks, marsh buggies, barges, etc. to make access to difficult sites possible.
*Accreditation is granted by the AASHTO Accreditation Program (AAP) and is limited to the laboratory and the standards for which the laboratory is accredited.

Our testing laboratories are completely outfitted to perform ASTM and AASHTO testing of soils, concrete, asphalt, and metals. They hold certifications and accreditations from the US Army Corps of Engineers, AASHTO Accreditation Program (AAP) (Mobile and New Orleans,) and CMEC in Florida. In other words, Southern Earth employs highly qualified, registered professionals trained to provide IBC Special Inspections.
Environmental Services
Southern Earth offers a full range of environmental services. Ultimately, this is to assist in ensuring that state and federal environmental regulations and qualities are maintained. Services include Site Assessment & Evaluation, Landfills & Solid Waste Management, Petroleum & Chemical Storage Systems, Asbestos Services and Hazardous Materials Services.
