SES provided construction materials testing services for the expansion of a U.S. Foods distribution center in Marrero, LA. The 20,500 sq. ft. project nearly tripled the previous facilities’ size and included a full-service demonstration kitchen, training center, and an interactive technology center. The facility expansion was designed to meet rigorous Silver Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification sustainability requirements including energy-efficient refrigeration systems, energy-saving LED lighting, optimized HVAC systems, and water-efficient landscaping. SES staff performed proof rolls, density tests, gradations, pile monitoring and testing, rebar inspections, concrete testing and inspection, grout and masonry inspections, mortar inspections, steel inspections, welding inspections, hammer tests, anchor bolt pull tests, flatness testing, and stormwater inspections for the project.
