Southern Earth Sciences, Inc. provided construction materials testing services for the $1.4 Billion expansion of an ethane cracker facility at Shintech’s plant in Plaquemines Parish, LA. Shintech is the world’s largest polyvinyl chloride (PVC) plastics manufacturer, and the ethylene plant is the first built in the U.S. by a Japanese chemical company. SES also obtained soil samples, performed Atterberg limits testing, ran standard and modified proctors, performed field density testing, witnessed proof rolling procedures, monitored concrete pours, and made concrete specimens for various other projects around the plant to provide quality assurance as a third-party testing group.
