US DOT Job Corps Center – Gulfport, MS
SES performed an Asbestos Containing Materials (ACM) and Lead-Based Paint (LBP) inspection on the Hurricane Katrina damaged buildings, including the main building, gymnasium and cafeteria at the US DOT Gulfport Job Corps Center, for the purpose of identifying and locating ACM & LBP that may be disturbed during the mothballing process.
One hundred and seventy-six (176) samples of suspect ACM’s were collected for laboratory analysis. Using a portable X-Ray Fluorescent (XRF) analyzer, approximately 300 LBP readings were taken from painted surfaces found in the structures.
Toxicity Characteristic Leaching Procedure (TCLP) samples were collected from the proposed demolition debris and analyzed for lead to determine the characterization of the waste stream.
