Coliseum Boulevard Plume
1200-Acre TCE Plume – Montgomery, AL
Southern Earth Sciences, Inc. is providing sampling and consulting services for this 1200-acre site in north-central Montgomery containing Trichloroethylene (TCE) in the groundwater.
The Alabama Department of Transportation (ALDOT), under the direction of the Alabama Department of Environmental Management (ADEM), has conducted investigations throughout this area since 1999 when the TCE was discovered.
Groundwater monitoring wells were installed to establish a monitoring system in which samples are taken on a quarterly basis from various sites within the CBP and at various depths. Soil cores were obtained during well installations to viusally log the subsurface lithology.
SESI’s involvement with the CBP includes collecting samples from a network of over 100 groundwater monitoring wells covering 1200 acres each quarter. At selected locations throughout the site, surface water and soil samples are also collected for analysis. Periodically, SESI conducts CPT testing and Geoprobe® investigations as well as managing installation of monitoring wells with sonic drilling.
